We live in the space age.
We are in the middle of an adventure. For the first time, we have the means to explore our wonderful universe.
Through my work I want to show that there is more to life than the daily chores. I hope
to call attention to what there might be out in space, and make everyone understand that we are a small but active part of something vast.

Technique
Glassfusing, also called lamination, is when two or more pieces of glass are fired together at 825 C in a special kiln. Glass in different colours can be used together, each 3 mm thick.
Stringers, crushed glass and glass powder are used to decorate the piece.
The finished result is a thick glass plate. In a second firing, at 710 C, it is put in a mould of ceramics or steel, to be slumped into the desired shape.

Kilnformed glass

Glass was fired in special kilns at 800C as early as year 2000 BC. This technique is called glassfusing. The egyptians and romans were the most advanced, and wonderful collections can be seen in museums in e.g. Corning, New York. In the eleventh century the art of blowing glass was discovered and glassfusing was forgotten. It was rediscovered in the USA as late as in the 1940´s.
There are now many glass artists all over the world working with glassfusing.
